About the Marketing Trenches Blog

The Marketing Trenches Blog is designed to provide marketers and business executives concrete examples of successful marketing strategies and tactics.  The content is largely focused on internet marketing, but given that internet marketing should be integrated with traditional/offline marketing, the content is relevant for all marketers.

Mike Sweeney

Mike SweeneyMike is an accomplished marketing professional with nearly 15 years of experience leading in-house marketing teams and serving as a consultant to a variety of organizations in industries such as software/technology, professional services, media and entertainment, retail and telecommunications.  This experience led Mike to launch Sweeney Marketing, which recently merged with Davis Marketing Group to become Right Source Marketing.

Prior to founding Sweeney Marketing, Mike served as the Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Angel.com, a subsidiary of MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), one of the largest software companies in the Washington, D.C. area.  Prior to Angel.com, Mike served as the Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Sandbox.com, one of the leaders in the online gaming space that was eventually acquired by NBC Universal.

Will Davis

Will DavisWill has a depth of experience in the field of interactive marketing, having worked in the web world since 1996.  From an early web design shop to a government contractor to a full service agency, Will has seen the good and bad of the interactive space from all sides.  It’s this experience that led Will to open Davis Marketing Group and eventually to co-found Right Source Marketing.

Prior to Right Source Marketing, Davis served as Vice President at Eisner Interactive, where he worked with regional and national accounts on campaigns that drove business, achieving client goals and gaining national and international notice as finalists and winners of ADDY, Webby and Effie awards. Additionally, Davis has provided his Internet marketing expertise for Marketplace radio, The Baltimore Sun, The Chicago Tribune and the American City Business Journals.

Davis’s diverse client experiences include companies such as Medifast, AMF Bowling, The STAR Network, Johns Hopkins Medicine and The Maryland State Lottery.  Will received his BS in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a member of a variety of organizations including the Greater Baltimore Technology Council and the Advertising Association of Baltimore.  You can learn more about Will on LinkedIn or follow him on Twitter.

Tracy Gold

Tracy GoldTracy is a writing, editing, and marketing professional with diverse experience in interactive and content marketing.

Before joining Right Source Marketing as a Marketing and Content Associate in 2010, Tracy worked with Mindgrub Technologies, E-Chessler Digital Marketing, Shmoop.com, Essay101LLC, and various other organizations. Tracy is a member of the Social Media Club of Baltimore and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council.

If you’re a Terps or Tar Heel fan, you may want to skip to the next paragraph, because Tracy graduated cum laude from Duke University with a degree in English, and High Distinction in Creative Writing.

Alecia Farley

Alecia FarleyAlecia is Right Source Marketing’s Project Director.  In this role she is responsible for making sure client projects run smoothly and the Right Source Marketing team is on track to meet all deadlines.  She is also tasked with improving and creating internal processes to make the Right Source Marketing machine run efficiently.

Alecia comes to us from the Greater Baltimore Technology Council (GBTC), where as Director of Professional Development she oversaw a number of programs designed to provide maximum value for the GBTC membership base. Prior to that, she served in VP-level marketing, management and sales roles for M&T Bank and Allfirst Bank.  Alecia is also in her 6th year as a board member for the Franciscan Youth Center.

When not in the office, you’ll find Alecia on a volleyball court somewhere spiking and digging a volleyball.

Allison Novak

Allison NovakAllison is a young marketing professional with experience in public relations, direct marketing, and internet and interactive marketing.

As a May 2011 graduate of Towson University, Allison graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She was also a member of the Honors College at Towson.
